after working long shifts the past 3 days, having those 2 auditions in a row yesterday and still being on east coast time, i took a much needed relaxing saturday afternoon for myself. i grabbed some fresh groceries on my way home from work, sat down on the couch for the first time since we moved in and turned on season 7 of friends (favorite season of my favorite show!) by about 530pm. but let's backtrack to this morning...
i woke up at 9:45 - a new record for me in this apartment! it's been 7:30 or so lately...probably because i worked until 1:30am last night...and was craving something refreshing. i made myself a smoothie in the ninja (best blender of life) with a banana, 6 or 7 frozen strawberries, a handful of frozen raspberries and a bit of almond milk. so delicious!
i also topped it with some of this granola from target. i know it's not the healthiest thing in the world, but it makes me happy. i'm also trying out buying it in these trial size packets for portion-control purposes, although i'm not proud of how environmentally-unfriendly they are.
i brought my daily coffee to work, instead of downing it before leaving, in hopes that it would keep me more awake longer. yeah...right...and a variety of snacks were eaten between the hours of 1pm and 5pm, including:
1 larabar, a TJ's fruit leather, a nature valley granola thin covered in dark chocolate (new favorite!!!!), as well as some frozen mango chunks and a spoonful or so of peanut butter. let's just say it was a day of snacking. and after the groceries were unloaded, i popped in a yoga dvd i brought back from home. i imagine it must be several years old, and never used since the plastic wrapping was still on it...
i have to say, i'm not a huge lover of yoga (it's just a little boring in comparison to taking a dance class, i think), but this dvd was great! i felt like i definitely got something out of it, although for a more rigorous workout i might have to pair it with some extra cardio/ab exercises in the future. but for a gym membership-less girl in hopes of getting paid to look good, this may be a good option for the lazier days.
in keeping with the relaxing yoga feel, i took a bubble bath while reading Kitchen Confidential (birthday present courtesy of jaime!) and lit an apple cider scented candle. hey, it may still be summer in cali, but it's turning to fall back home and i miss it...
aaaanyway, dinner consisted of a salad with a lot of ingredients. in that bowl is a bunch of spinach, some craisins, 3 chopped dried figs, half an avocado, some edamame, too much red onion, and a touch of crumbled goat cheese. i used balsamic vinaigrette for the dressing! it feels good to have fruits and veggies back in my diet after an overly indulgent vacation at home :)
the rest of the night will probably involve more friends season 7, some tea, some ice cream, and browsing of health food blogs. see you tomorrow!
